PLACE & PEOPLE
DOING WHAT WE CAN,
WHERE WE CAN
Our family-run business in the heart of Norfolk is committed to providing the best possible produce and experiences, for our local community and those further afield.
But simply being aware of what we do is not enough to sustain an ethical business — real change takes a team effort. At Goat Shed, our people shape processes to form a sustainable organisation. This matters to us and our G.O.A.T customers.

IS THE GRASS GREENER AT GOAT SHED?
OUR SUSTAINABLE MEASURES
As a young business starting out on our sustainability journey, we don’t want to kid ourselves or anyone else about our environmental impact. Our processes aren’t totally perfect, but we are Always Honest — it’s literally one of our values.
While we LOVE many things green, we have no time for ‘greenwashing’. Instead, we actively seek ways to achieve a balance for people and the planet while keeping Goat Shed running as a profitable business. To ensure the wool isn’t pulled over your eyes, take a look at some of the efforts we’ve made so far.
Sunny-side up
We've had solar panels on site since 2017. Our south-facing roofs are the perfect spot to capture the sun's energy and use it to power some of our operations.
Charging the future
We installed EV chargers in 2021. This enables more environmentally friendly electric vehicles to stay powered up.
In it together
We host a weekly friendship table and monthly community walks, as well Baby Brunch Club: a relaxed space for new parents to connect, build a support network, and enjoy a slice of cake.
Nice and cosy
Our holiday cottages are heated and cooled using air-source heating, a renewable heating system that extracts heat from the outside air.
Getting our mucks in a row
The muck from our cow and goat sheds (and there’s plenty of it) is used as farmyard manure and put back on the land (including our Maize Maze field) to help build healthy soils.
Sustaining crops
Wastewater from our cheese-making is collected by a local farmer (thanks, Sparky!) and used to generate electricity and heat power.
Feeding our furry friends
All of the maize harvested from our Maize Maze last year went into producing animal feed to sustain our animals.
Really good food
We aim to reduce food waste at every roll, shape and stir. In 2024, we recycled 1180 litres of used cooking oil to be filtered and converted into biodiesel.

OUR PARTNERS & SUPPLIERS
PRODUCE WITH
POSITIVITY
We don’t just sell produce; we celebrate quality and champion its origins. That means sourcing the best quality ingredients and working with suppliers who align with our values. Established or fledgling, we’ll always ask our suppliers how their operations impact the environment and the difference it makes in their communities — from Fen Farm’s solar storage to Norfolk Tea’s 100% plastic-free packaging.
Goat Shed is offering small artisan businesses the opportunity to showcase their products under the Independent Spotlight at our farm shop. We hope this is a valuable experience for suppliers who may be in the early days of their business, or those who are developing a new product. Occasionally, successful showcases may lead to more regular shelf space or other forms of partnership.

CHARITY PARTNERSHIPS
ALL FOR A G.O.A.T CAUSE
In the last three years we have given £20,000 to local charities and good causes.
We’re honoured to be working alongside Little Lifts as our chosen charity partner. They provide the most thoughtfully-handpicked gift boxes to people affected by breast cancer.
Keep an eye on our socials and events pages to see how we’re supporting this uplifting charitable organisation.

WHAT’S NEXT?
KEEPING A CONNECTION
While everyone at Goat Shed is working hard to quantify the impact of our sustainable measures, our team has further goals to reduce food waste and increase recycling.
We’re always looking for like-minded people to join the herd and we’d love to hear from you. If you want to know more or have any suggestions to better serve our team, community and environment, please get in touch.
